Abuse of vulnerable adults

As older adults become more physically frail, they’re less able to take care of themselves, stand up to bullying, or fight back if attacked. Mental or physical ailments can make them more trying companions for those who live with them. And they may not see or hear as well or think as clearly as they used to, leaving openings for unscrupulous people to take advantage of them.

Eliminating the need to arm Teachers

An act that can potentially result in additional dangers. There’s no evidence that arming teachers will make students safer, yet the series of new  laws now allows school employees to have weapons on school grounds as long as they’re secured in a locked vehicle. The victimization rate for children 12 through 19 is higher than that for any other age group.

In the not so distant past, people, particularly children, saw police as a comforting presence in times of trouble. That perception has radically changed. A large percentage of the population is now afraid to interact with law enforcement for any reason. The prevalence of guns may be a major factor in that perspective.
